Taiwan: The Bradt Travel Guide ReviewGlad the Bradt guide folks finally got around to doing a Taiwan guide. After years of Lonely Planet dominating there is finally a worthwhile alternative, and it's a better one (not saying the Lonely Planet guide is bad, just for ages it was the only one worth reading). The Bradt guide is more comprehensive and more accurate. It's more attractive than Lonely Planet as well, with some great photos (though the Nat Geo Traveler has some nice photos as well and a lovely layout--that's all it has going for it. Ditto for the Michelin Guide). The author has an eye for telling details and good judgement on just how much historical detail to add for colour and interest but without being overwhelming or pedantic. If you have to choose one Taiwan guide, this is the one to get.Taiwan: The Bradt Travel Guide OverviewWritten by an author who has lived in Taiwan for 19 years, Bradt's brand-new Taiwan explores the island's breathtaking mountains, bird-rich forests and quaint villages where folk religion thrives. Travellers are discovering there's much more to Taiwan than high-tech gadgetry and a difficult relationship with China. Author Steven Crook leads visitors through a land where Chinese tradition lives on like nowhere else against a backdrop of northeast Asia's highest mountains. Taiwan is one of the most crowded countries on Earth, but beyond the ocean of people and vehicles, far from the neon and noise that confronts new arrivals, there's another world waiting to be discovered. This book is the guide for individuals who want more than the treasures of the National Palace Museum, the beaches of Kending, and the well-beaten trails of Alishan. Whether they aim to rough it on mountain peaks, observe age-old rituals in tucked-away temples or wallow in five-star comfort, Bradt's Taiwan will lead visitors on an unforgettable journey through Asia's newest destination.

Global Etiquette Guide to Mexico and Latin America (Global Etiquette Guides) ReviewGood books for a first timer to the region and Latin countries. Nothing can seem to fully prepare you for a visit and this will have some more basic applications if you plan on staying for a longer duration of several months and plan to immerse yourself in the day to day life of the local culture. For the short term business travler, may be interesting but not completely applicable.Global Etiquette Guide to Mexico and Latin America (Global Etiquette Guides) OverviewAuthored by one of the world's leading cross-cultural experts.
Invaluable for both business and leisure travelers.
Comprehensive and practical coverage.
